Weekly Scoop

Sorry for getting this out so late but I had a looong night last night so I slept in pretty late. This week has been pretty uneventful aside from warm weather. I've been getting my tan on and I'm really happy to announce that my now base tan is pretty dark for only a few days in the sun.

I'm still currently on the job hunt which is really bothering me because I'm supposed to be making a June 1st move in and I'm freaking out. I'm just going to have to keep pushing and hope it all works out.

The other day I was handed one of these in the sunflower butter and chocolate bars. Let me tell you this, it was the most delicious bar I have ever had. It didn't taste like someone was trying to pack a whole bunch of crap into it to boost energy like a power bar but instead it tasted really natural. You can really taste the sunflower butter which I really like. I'm a fan of health bars but most don't appeal to me because I just don't like the ingredients. This bar however tastes great and is really natural and good for you.

I stumbled upon this tutorial a few days ago and I want to try this. It's a tutorial on how to make those gold tube bracelets we all see around so much. Now I have a bunch of these gold tube bracelets already but this tutorial seemed fun and easy so I need to try it sometime.

I'm a few years late on this one but I think this is a great art concept. I came across this last night and Had to share it. This artist took the Cosmopolitan's P3 space and set up private booths. She asked people to write confessions on wooden boards which she hung up all around the space kind of like a Shinto shrine. She took the ones she liked and painted them on canvases and hung them around the space as well. I think it's interesting because everything is anonymous. If this was still around I would go and see it myself.

I came across this on pinterest the other day and I've been searching for these ever since. Luckily for me thecollegeprepster had this listed in her "On my radar" today so I was able to locate where these came from. Now I haven't traveled in a while but the current passport cover I have could definitely use an update and what better than a monogrammed one?

This is something I really want when it becomes available. What this is is a 3d makeup printer! That's right it prints wearable makeup like foundation, lipstick, eye shadow and blush. I think this concept is awesome because you can literally take a picture from anywhere on the internet, magazine or even take one yourself and create wearable makeup from the color of your choice. Supposedly It's only going to cost $300 which is a steal for what it will be able to do.

9 beauty products I can't live without

As much as I lust over new and amazing beauty products I'm not the kind of girl to go out and buy them all. I like to stick with my favorites because simply put, they work. I'm not a makeup or beauty guru by any means but I do like to think I know what I'm doing. I rely on mostly friends advice and reviews of products to determine what works for me. I always tend to have a lot of favorite products but there are only a select few that I always need to have...

1) Clinique perfectly real makeup // I don't really wear a lot of makeup especially not a heavy foundation. While I like to use a powder from time to time this is perfect for casual day to day makeup. It's sort of a mix between foundation and tinted moisturizer. This seems to give me even coverage that blends well with my uneven skin and doesn't feel heavy or look like I'm wearing makeup. I mean that's the point right? To blend skin and makeup to look as 1.

2) Burts Bees mango & orange body butter // I tend to have drier skin than most so I need to constantly keep my skin hydrated. Unfortunately I can't always strip down and apply moisturizer to my entire body. This stuff keeps my skin moisturized and smelling nice all day long. It goes on smooth and leaves my skin feeling silky soft.

3) Tigi catwalk strong mousse // My hair is very flat. It's so flat that I don't even need a flat iron to keep it straight. I like my hair to have lots of volume especially while I'm growing it longer as it's kinda short right now. The care I take in my hair is unreal. I'm always using masks and vitamin oils as I dye my hair on a monthly basis. I'm not the biggest fan of heavily saturated hair products that damage hair so you can imagine my relief to find something that doesn't do that. This mousse is perfect. It gives great lift while feeling very airy. It comes out very easily and doesn't leave your hair looking wet.

4) Chloe eau de perfume // I have a deviated septum which essentially means I can't smell. I can smell strong things among others but generally I can't smell well at all. I usually rely on the scent of others to let me know if something smells bad or a body product is too strong. This perfume however I can smell and It's just wonderful. I've been told It's not too strong which is nice and smells very feminine.

5) Clinique advanced concealer // I'm constantly grabbing for this whether it be a blemish on my face or a hickey on my neck this is my go to coverall. This concealer doesn't feel too cakey or powdery. It goes on smooth and blends well with your skin without having to use gobs of it. I even tested it once on my wrist tattoo and it covered it perfectly.

6) Smith's mocha rose lip balm // I just love lip balm. I keep some everywhere, my car, bureau, nightstand, bathroom counter and even in the pockets of my jackets. A lot of people tend to lean toward the Burts Bees products. Now while I do love the Burts Bees line of lip balms and stains I love Smith's way more. 1 major difference I have noticed is that the Burts Bees lip balms melt much easier in warm weather than the Smiths products do. I hate it when I open a tube of lip balm and it breaks apart all over my lips. I like the Smith's line of products because they come in a good but small variety of scents and they last. I go through them like crazy but that's because I'm constantly using it all day long. I prefer the mocha rose over the other scents but that's just me.

On a side note Smith's just came out with a mandarin lip balm that I'm just dying to try!

7)  Cetaphil skin cleanser // I don't like abrasive skin cleansers. I feel like they just hurt my sensitive skin more than they do good. This is my go to face wash because it's very gentle, non abrasive and most of all it works very well.

8) Fluoridex toothpaste // I know toothpaste how boring, right? Well let me tell you this is worth it. When I was younger I had braces. As a result my teeth were left very stained and a lot of enamel was gone. This toothpaste is prescription but it works wonders. It's specially formulated to help keep and strengthen what enamel you have left. It smells nice and leaves my mouth feeling minty fresh.

9) Urban Decay chill makeup setting spray // Living on the coast can be a nightmare for makeup. Especially when you live on the water because the ocean breeze just ruins hair and makeup. This stuff is amazing! It sprays on over your makeup in a non aerosol bottle which is nice. It doesn't leave your skin oily or sticky and doesn't feel heavy. It's the best makeup setting spray I have used to date and I plan to continue its use.

Yogurt, for breakfast

I'm going to start off by stating the facts. As much as I moan and groan getting out of bed every morning I am a morning person. I love to get up and watch the morning happen over a cup of coffee and some yogurt.

I decided I should share with you my healthy yogurt mix recipe because I love it so much!

What you'll need:

1. Plain Greek yogurt (I like Chobani)
2. Chia seeds
3. Bear naked honey almond granola
4. Organic honey
5). Fresh cut strawberries

What to do:

Fill a bowl with however much yogurt suits you. I only go about half way. Next take the chia seeds and mix in as much as you'd like. Repeat the last step for the honey almond granola. Next cover the top layer with strawberries. Drizzle honey over it all to finish it off.

Weekly Scoop

This week has been hell and it feels like every day dragged on forever. We lost the house and then we lost one of the people moving in with us. The weather has been all funky raining one minute and then sunny the next. My head feels like it's about to explode. I'm so done with this area even if it is the most perfect place.

Lilly Pulitzer announced on their blog this week that they have finally launched the Lilly resort tote. I am so excited about this! I have been waiting for someone to come out with a bag that encompasses what this bag has accomplished. The fact that it's Lilly just makes it all that much better! I definitely want one.

"Years", a collection of recording of trees. This is really cool! Christoph Freidhöfer took slices of trees and built a record player that translates the rings into piano keys. As a big record fan I was so pumped to see this. You can even download the recordings!

This is a Starbucks parody video based on a song from Disney's Frozen. I find it hilarious. I feel like I post a lot of coffee related things but hey, what can I say? I love coffee.

As an art major I'm a huge fan of interactive art. I think digital interactive art is some of the most interesting because the possibilities are endless. "Silk" is an interactive digital art project where you can literally draw anything with all kinds of symmetry settings. It even has an Ipad app which I now have.

Weekly Scoop

This week has been a good one. I put down security deposit on the house I 'm moving into. The weather has been pretty warm and rainy but warm. I even made an attempt at surfing again. Yes this week was a good one. Granted Not a lot happened but the small things make me happy sometimes.

Well the teller and I got into a conversation about sweets and she asked me if I liked chocolate to which my reply was an obligatory yes! She preceded to open a box and hand me a chocolate bar. Guys, this is the most delicious chocolate bar I have had in a long time! You need to try it for your self.

Attempt at surfing...again

I have always loved the water! I have grown up on the water my entire life and water sports are a huge part of my Spring, Summer and Fall. When I was younger I had a really bad near drowning experience while snorkeling. I'm not going to get into it because the experience still haunts me from time to time. What I can say is that It  was very scary and it sorta traumatized me being under water.

As you know I love to sail. It's my favorite sport. I've been sailing since I was 3 and I wouldn't give it up for anything. I also enjoy diving. I haven't gone in a few years but this summer I hope to make some time to do just that. I love the feeling of being underwater just as much as it scares me. Once you take that plunge all you have to rely on is your dive partner and your gauges to tell you how deep you are and how much air you have left in your tank.

The other day I was with one of my friends when he got a call from someone telling him the waves were good. He asked me if I wanted to join him and naturally I said no. I have a board but I've always been afraid of surfing. Every time I'm out there I feel helpless when I go under. It scares me so much. He ended up being quite persuasive. In the end I said yes and went with them. I was actually starting to get pretty excited. I rushed home to get my board and wet suit and met them at the beach. That was the moment I remembered why I don't really surf. The waves were pretty big and I didn't know how I was going to handle it all.

Once I got into the water I thought I was going to be ok, I had 2 experienced friends with me and the water was warm (for NH). It took me a long time to work up the courage to paddle out far enough to even get a good wave. Then it happened. This monster wave started forming right in front of my eyes and I was terrified. I tried to break it with my board but it swept me up in one fell swoop. I was under for almost 20 seconds which seems like an eternity when your being tossed around like a rag doll under the surface of the ocean. I stuck it out though despite my tremendous fear. It took about an hour but I finally called it quits and came in.

In the end of it all I don't know if I would go back out any time soon. I want to get over my fears but at the same time I don't want to make it worse. Hopefully there will be a nicer day with smaller waves in the near future for me to practice with.

Do you surf? Have you had a traumatizing experience with water?

Playlist No. 2

I thought it was time I updated all of you on what I'm listening to. With the weather slowly getting warmer I have been spending more time outside. I was even in the water today...with a wet suit of course but in the water none the less.

My music taste is constantly changing but for the most part as long as its not country I might like it. This playlist is a very very eclectic one but I love every song on it.
