LP Crate and new vinyls

So the other day my friend Zach came to me and asked if I wanted to help him build a record crate. I decided to say yes because I like helping people and I thought it would be fun (Not that I did much of the physical work). Now I know what you're thinking, me build something with tools? I'm not much of a handy woman but I really wanted to help. Anyways it came out so great I wanted one for myself. Today with the day off I decided to do so with his help. Since we already had the design and measurements it didn't take very long at all. As you can see it came out great, at least I think so. I only have a portion of my record collection right now while the rest is still at my parents house until tomorrow I was only able to put what I had with me in. That said I think it will work great and look awesome in my new apartment!

Also I got a few new vinyls the other day as well including full records of kendric Lamar's Good Kid Maad City, Portishead's The Rip and 45's of Matisyahu and The XX. I plan to post pics soon (maybe).

New Records

So, in light of moving into my new apartment in less than a week - Yes, I am moving in less than a week, and I couldn't be more excited! - I went to a record store in Rochester yesterday called Skeletone. It's amazing! It's huge, and the whole upstairs is reserved for pricier records that include new and rare vinyls, while the basement is filled with dollar records. The basement is where I spent most of my time (over 2 1/2 hours, to be exact.) I had to eventually leave because my eyes were straining from looking at the thousands of records. Anyways, I ended up with four great albums that I am really excited to play, the first being ELO's "Out Of the Blue", which was a great find. This album has some of my favorites, including "Sweet Talking Woman", "Mr. Blue Sky", and "Turn to Stone". The others include The Who's greatest hits, Suzanne Vega's self titled album, and Huey Lewis and The News's "Sports". I am particularly excited about the Huey Lewis album because "Sports" is hands down one of my favorite albums by them. The Suzanne Vega album is a replacement of one I have that got warped from being left near a hot window for a long time over the summer.

The last album is a remixed picture disc vinyl of Lady Gaga which was gifted to me for Christmas by my friend Zach. I have yet to listen to it, but it should be amazing. I plan to return to that record store with a lot more cash in my wallet so I can get a lot more dollar records as well as a few upstairs that I am dying to get, including a rare brand new original copy of Nirvana's "Nevermind" and a mint copy of "Purple Rain" by Prince. At the same time, there was an etched copy of "Paradise Theater" by Styx downstairs that I wish I had hid better because I would love to have it.

Lake Winni

I took a trip the other day back up to see my high school and visit some old friends living in the area. I think it was good for me to get out of the seacoast area for a day and up to the lakes region. Being up there reminded me why I love That place in the winter time. With the frozen lake and all the snow they get up there it's just beautiful.
